I don't know what to say really....
Well it's the last week before the Rio trip and things are going good. The bjj competitors are all getting ready for the comp too and they are all looking good and should do well.
Classes will be covered by stand in instructors whilst we are away and will carry on the training programs you've been following over the past months. So turn up and train hard and see if you can improve.
Training and teaching this past few weeks has been great. The stick class last night was good fun with some of the class working towards the circling spinning drill based on a 22 count sinawali drill. The others were also working two sticks in a long sumbrada drill
to start with but we swapped out the left hand side for a thai pad and then a large dagger. Caz even had two daggers in heaven and earth grips and was alternately receiving shots, whilst moving around pads (spacial awareness).
Peter, The Legend and I are preparing for our trip to Brasil later this month. I've been rolling around 6 days a week now for the past few weeks and I have to say, I can see the improvements. Peter as ever, along with The Legend have been working out hard too, although Peter has an injured neck so he is having to train around that a bit. Doesn't stop him training though he just trains 'intelligently'.
Pat's Jun Fan class is always good for keeping the hands sharp and this has been a pretty good session for me and Peter. Our emphasis at the moment is BJJ because of our trip but you should always train all the systems because there are huge benefits in the cross training aspect of this. I'll talk more on cross training in the future as there is sometimes the misconception that it means training in loads of different systems.
Roll on Rio!!
